The anthology is the result of the fourth writing and translation competition "Crimean fig / Qırım inciri" (2021–2022). It traditionally collects the best works submitted to the competition in the Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar languages. These works came from different parts of Ukraine and the world, and some authors, in particular the first deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Nariman Dzhelal, citizen journalist Server Mustafayev, activist Asan Akhtem, are currently behind bars in Russia due to fabricated absurd accusations, the real purpose of which is to suppress the struggle for their land and freedom.
Poetry and prose, translated texts will allow a wide range of readers to learn more about the authentic culture of the Crimea, get acquainted with the classics and contemporaries of Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar literature, discover the stories of the past and the modern realities of life on the peninsula.
The innovation of the book is that the works in the Crimean Tatar language, originally written in Cyrillic, are also presented in Latin script, as today the Crimean Tatar language has officially switched to this script. It is now de facto banned in Crimea.
