The period of this review (1830-1815) is extremely important in the recent history of Iran. Russia was trying to expand its dominion over the Caucasus and this side of the Aras River, Britain was looking for supremacy over the Persian Gulf, and Iran was fighting and fighting in the last lost battles to secure its interests. The third decade of the 19th century saw fundamental changes in the status of the Caucasus, the Caspian Sea, and the Persian Gulf, each of which had become, respectively, a province of Russia, a lake in Russian possession, and the latter, de facto, a sea under British rule. In addition, in that period, the rivalry between Iran and Turkey led to a military confrontation for the last time, and more importantly, the first attempts were made to resolve the causes of the previous frequent conflicts, which resulted in a new phase in the relations between the two neighbors based on greater understanding. The era in which the geopolitics of the region was formed and its influence remains to this day.
Fereydon Admit (1299-1387) was an innovative historian who considered history a specialized and analytical discipline and was its promoter. Using extensive first-hand sources from Iranian and foreign archives, he categorized them in order of importance and showed unquestionable mastery in this field.
Adamit was employed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1319 when he was still a student. In 1321, he graduated from the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences of Tehran University, and his undergraduate thesis later became the basis of his first and most famous book, Amir Kabir and Iran. Later, Adamit was sent to the Iranian Embassy in London, and at the same time as the secretary of the Iranian Embassy, he studied at the London School of Economic and Political Sciences until obtaining a doctorate. The present work is the translation of his doctoral thesis.
