Many of us humans hide the truth of our ideas, beliefs and actions even in surveys, we present ourselves as moral, meritorious and less flawed human beings, and this is while the buttons of our personal computer keyboard And search engines reveal many facts about us. And this is exactly the topic that "Everybody Lies" has addressed. The data obtained from the internet search provide a perspective of the human mind and psyche and make human confessions a science; This internet footprint can be seen as a gateway to social science that overcomes many lie detector and mind reading tools that have been used over the years. This book focuses on the American society and the reality that the Internet reveals about it.
Excerpt from the book:
In fact, when I tested keywords related to genius—and this test included keywords related to talentlessness—I found that parents were more likely to search for their sons. Even the number of searches like "Is my son retarded?" and "Is my son stupid?" Also more than the number of such searches for girls. But obviously, the search graph for positive words like "talented" and "genius" is much more towards boys than negative words like "slow-minded" and "stupid". So what is the main concern of parents about their daughter? Parents primarily care about the girl's appearance. For example, consider a search for a child's weight. Parents of the phrase "Is my daughter overweight?" almost twice as often as "Is my son overweight?" They search. Parents are twice as likely to ask Google how to get their daughters to lose weight than they are to ask their sons. This gender bias, just like the case of talent, has no roots in reality. About 28% of girls are overweight, while this figure is 35% for boys. Although boys are heavier than girls on the scale, the heavy weight of girls is more visible to parents - or causes them concern.
