The existing research about Iran's national security and the challenges and external threats facing it has been mostly influenced by international studies, especially the study of strategic and geopolitical effects caused by the politics of superpowers or regional actors. The current research is focused on another less-known but very important field, i.e. the influence of the political ideas and tendencies of the surrounding environment on the national security of Iran. Since the political ideas and tendencies in the Middle East are based on the three axes of nationalism, Marxist left and Islamism, the author has analyzed the view of these tendencies and currents and the governments of their supporters towards Iran and the impact of the policies resulting from these tendencies on the national security of our country. In addition to presenting a comprehensive and new definition of Iran's national security, it considers the outcome of territorial, military, economic, political, humanitarian, and identity security of Iran and the Iranian people.
The author has also presented his desired solutions in the field of foreign policy, economic development, and identity politics to eliminate or reduce these threats and ensure comprehensive national security of Iran.
