Does death have an image? In other words, is it possible to talk not only about the image of the dead but also about the image of death? And can the cinema, which is like a hunting ground for images, also trap this image of death? The present book begins with these questions and proceeds by examining films that are concerned with death. However, the book continues to try to examine death not only in the narration of movies, but also in relation to the medium of cinema itself, and on the other hand, to explore the possibilities of resistance to death, that is, the relationship between cinema and immortality. Therefore, at the same time as using theoretical discussions in the hundred-year history of film theory, delving into philosophical considerations about death and immortality, as well as searching literary sources, becomes inevitable. Therefore, the current book is an interdisciplinary study centered on death, which is nourished by film theory, philosophy and literature. The center of gravity that remains (and will remain!) wandering and hidden throughout this book is death.
