The book "The Problem of Althusser" is the result of a series of meetings that the Association of Cultural Studies and Communication held in cooperation with the Iranian Sociological Association under the title "The Problem of Key Contemporary Thinkers" and in each meeting, it examined the opinions of one of the thinkers. In this series of discussions, three basic questions are centered; First, what issue each thinker has made problematic in the world around him; Second, what ideas have the thinkers expanded to form their conceptual system? And then each of the commentators have emphasized on what aspects of each thinker's thought for the issues facing our society. Based on these three questions, the authors of the upcoming book have explained the most important concepts of Althusser's thought - a contemporary French philosopher - that is, the concept of "problematic", the relationship between "science and ideology" and "structural causality and totality of expression". Considering the importance of Althusser in philosophical and sociological studies and the lack of translated or written works about his thought, the value of this book is doubled. By carefully reading Marx's works, Althusser has put his effort on criticizing simplistic conceptions of the concept of ideology as well as humanist Marxism and Hegelian dialectic. This book is a reader's friend in understanding the breaks in Marx's cognitive knowledge that Althusser talked about, as well as his "symptomatic" reading of Marx's works.
