The present book opens a new narrative of how the Safavid government was formed, continued, and evolved, relying on various Persian, Arabic, and Latin sources. The author states that the stereotypical view of the Safavid era and the orientalists' focus on institutionalized and repetitive beliefs have prevented Safavid scholars from addressing the unread and unthought-of aspects of this era. In fact, understanding the internal dynamics and mechanism of the Safavid government system, the nature of Mahdism discourses, religious and ethnic relations in the pyramid of power, the role of the transcendental discourse of the court in the consistency and preservation of the territory of the Safavid state and the reasons for its failure are among the goals of this work. The author also did not ignore the influence and continuity of Iranian culture, its reflection in the discourses and cultural policies of the Safavids, and evaluated the impact of Iranian culture on the period in question with a historical perspective.
