Emmanuel Levinas is a French-Jewish philosopher born in Lithuania. He considered ethics as the first philosophy.
The only book of Levinas that has been translated into Farsi is Zaman and the Other, which was translated from German to Farsi by Maryam Ghayashahi.
In the introduction of the book, Ghayashahi wrote:
"I chose this book as the first translated work of Levinas himself for the Persian speaking reader, in order to familiarize him with the characteristics of Levinas's speech and precision in the description and analysis of the important issues of his philosophy, at the same time as being close to him and getting closer to his type and manner of philosophizing. "
Masoud Alia is one of the Iranian thinkers who paid special attention to Levinas's thought and compiled his doctoral thesis entitled "Condition of the possibility of ethics in Levinas's thought" under the guidance of Abdul Karim Rashidian and Shahin Awani.
