Naser Takmil Homiyun was born in 1936 in Ghazvin (Qazvin), Iran. He received his Ph.D. in History (1972) and in Sociology (1977) from Sorbonne University, Paris. His extensive researches and studies embrace the historical sociology of Iran. His published works include The Social and Cultural History of Tehran (3 vols), eleven titles in the "What do I know about Iran?" book series, Educational System and Institutions in Ancient Iran, and more than one hundred articles in Iranian scientific and cultural magazines.
