In the present research, an attempt has been made to investigate the discovery of hijab in Iran during Reza Shah's era by relying on the main sources. This review is followed in six chapters.
The introduction of the book is devoted to a rather detailed discussion of the critical introduction of research sources.
In the first chapter, the issue of discovering the hijab is taken into consideration from the point of view of the modernists, and the views of those modernists who mentioned the discovery of the hijab in their writings are examined. Then the influence of these thoughts on the clothing of men and women of the Qajar era is mentioned. Since these influences provided the ground for Reza Shah's modernist programs, the Shah's modernist program and various sections of this program were examined and paid attention to.
The second chapter is devoted to the investigation of the grounds and preparations for announcing the discovery of the hijab during Reza Shah's period. In this chapter, the internal and external intellectual foundations of this movement are first mentioned, then Reza Shah's actions to formalize this movement are examined.
In the third chapter, the announcement of the discovery of the hijab in Iran and the organized actions of the government and executive bodies of the country to promote it are mentioned.
In the fourth chapter, based on the available documents, the progress of the discovery of hijab in the provinces until after Shahrivar 1320 has been examined. Also, for a more detailed investigation, different parts of the country have been considered in two general and separate parts - urban areas and rural and nomadic areas. In addition to that, the main obstacles of the hijab discovery program and the solutions of the executive officials to remove the obstacles are also mentioned.
In the fifth chapter, the social reactions against the unveiling of the hijab have been examined, and it has been divided into positive and negative reactions expressed by different social groups, first of all, the reaction of intellectuals, statesmen and politicians, clerics and different strata of women, including Women of different urban classes and rural and nomadic women have been mentioned before Shahrivar 1320, and then the government's reaction to the opposition has been discussed. After that, together with the investigation of social reactions against the discovery of hijab after Shahrivar 20, Reza Shah's forced departure from the country has been considered.
In the sixth chapter, the social, cultural, economic, and political consequences of the discovery of the hijab have been examined in general. In this regard, an effort has been made to point out these consequences more by relying on past sources.
