This novel is the story of three generations. Hanna is Anna's grandmother who had many difficulties and famine in passed years in war, is still involved with life; thus, in spite of having power in tolerate problems and willingness to accept responsibility, has no power to rise against life constraints. Her second marriage didn't decrease her problems; but Johanna - Anna's mother - is involved with amnesia and who is the clamping ring between Anna and Hanna's life. Sometimes she reviews her memories when she is sick. Besides, Anna wants to know more about her mother and her grand mother's life. She wants to know how was living in village in one hundred years before; and wants to know her mother's feeling of her father's death and know why her mother didn't uprising against the boring life of housekeeping. Anna is an educated and civilized character. She got divorced because she couldn't tolerate her hard marriage life.
