Firouz Mirza, the son of Abbas Mirza, the grandson of Fath Ali Shah, was one of the influential men of Naser al-Din Shah and Muhammad Shah's era, who held important national and military positions from his youth until his death, including ruling the vast province of Kerman and Baluchistan. Farmanfarma started his journey to Jiroft in the last year of his rule, coinciding with one of the worst famines in the city of Kerman, in the winter of 1259 AH (1881 AD) and finished it at the end of April of the following year.
