And the news every day with reports of various threats, from the daily dangers of urban life to the threat of war and terrorism, makes us feel that a disaster may befall us at any moment. Fear is a powerful emotion. It can save our lives. But it can also take away our freedom and destroy that vital element that binds society, namely "trust". In the book "Philosophy of Fear", Lars Svendsen tries to explore the different dimensions of this powerful feeling and show what fear is, why and how it has penetrated into every corner of modern life, and more importantly, what political uses are made of it.
