The purpose of this book is to provide a critical description of John McDowell's philosophy. McDowell is one of the main representatives of analytical and post-analytical philosophy, who, due to his extensive knowledge of the history of philosophy and knowledge of the opinions of some continental philosophers such as Gadamer, has been able to create fruitful dialogues between analytical philosophers and philosophical traditions and provide a basis for critical dialogues between various philosophical currents and traditions.
In this book, we try to show how McDowell's post-analytical approach, which is the result of the linguistic turn and leads to the double collapse of reality and value, makes him face the problem of relativism. In the next step, it is necessary to show how evolution can be created through Hegel's idea of mutual recognition in his answer to the problem of relativism, without falling into metaphysical theorizing in the sense criticized by McDowell.
