The book “The Persian Gulf: Culture and Civilization” contains the articles of the first biennial conference “The Persian Gulf”, which was held in 2008 and hosted by the University of Tehran. The most famous professors of history and culture of Iran, several whom have passed away in recent years, spoke at this conference and their writings are included in this book. This blue expanse of water and its shores and hinterlands have long been the origin of an important part of Iranian culture and civilization, and today, despite the attacks and distortions that are mainly carried out by its southern neighbors to deny and falsify its historical and civilizational identity, it still holds a hidden treasure and a great legacy. The articles in the book are a look at various historical, geographical, cultural, and political aspects of the Persian Gulf over the centuries, shedding a ray of awareness on this long-standing past. This valuable collection was prepared by Dr. Mohammad Bagher Vosoughi and Dr. Mansour Sefatgol, professors in the History Department at the University of Tehran, and its content is readable and instructive for all interested parties, in addition to researchers.
