Farhang Rajai, as the author and translator, seeks to present an understanding of the concept of politics that is free from superstition and skepticism in the book Politics. In his opinion, in terms of content, this fundamental and determining concept in collective order can be better understood alongside the categories of “political affairs” and “political science.” So these three categories shape the content of the book. On the other hand, in terms of method, he has accomplished this important task in dialogue with two great thinkers of human heritage, Aristotle and Arendt. According to these two philosophers, a life mixed with the realization of the highest good or the common good is not possible except through politics and with the help of political science. Therefore, man engages in politics to create a civil and cosmopolitan life (sustainable development), as a result of which political affairs and their forms (politics, economy, society, science, art, religion, culture, history, and heritage) flourish and become dynamic.
Professor Farhang Rajaee (1951-) is a political thinker international relations theorist and full professor at Carleton University in Canada.
