Karl Marx: A Contribution to the Critique of Political Economy
A Contribution to the Critique of Political Economy:
First printed: Berlin (Franz Duncker) 1859. The text of the first edition was improved and supplemented by adopting the handwritten corrections and marginal notes from Marx's personal copy. All changes compared to the 1859 edition are noted in the footnotes.
Introduction [to the Critique of Political Economy]:
Written between the end of August and the middle of September 1857. First printed in: Die Neue Zeit, 1903. The work represents an unfinished draft for a general introduction to a major economic work planned by Marx. However, Marx changed his plans several times as the work progressed, so that the works "A Contribution to the Critique of Political Economy" and "Capital" were written instead. A critical edition of the "Introduction" was published as part of the edition of the economic manuscripts of 1857/58 as an introduction to the "Outlines for the Critique of Political Economy (rough draft)", Moscow 1939.
