King Lear is without a doubt one of the most famous tragedies of William Shakespeare (1564-1616). In it we witness the fall of the king of Britain after dividing the kingdom between his two eldest daughters and disinheriting the little one because of her honesty. This decision, a human error driven by a human passion, sets in motion a series of mechanisms that not only brings misfortune to his lineage, but also disrupts the very order of things. Through its pages, the reader will find themselves immersed in the problems of the various issues that make up the human condition, especially in the difficult relationships established between members of the same family.
The work describes the actions of the characters whose consequences will drag them towards a terrible end. The swirl of growing tragedy is captured in the words of the character the Earl of Gloucester:
