The history of jurisprudence in Iran and in general throughout Islamic civilization is the history of thinking about identity-building rituals, both religious and legal; that is, issues that have been considered the most important social issues for centuries, have been trending, have shaped the most important cultural and political developments, and have always been influenced by them. Jurisprudence has the same place in civilizations based on tradition that philosophy has in civilizations based on self-founded reason. The need for unifying and identity-building rituals among Muslims is why the science of jurisprudence, the knowledge of discovering and interpreting these rituals, is considered so important. Therefore, to understand the nature of jurisprudence, the function of rituals must be explored from the perspective of social sciences. This is also the most important point of the author in this work. The central mission of the author in this work is to introduce the science of history and represent the necessity of familiarity with it. For this purpose, the author's effort is to familiarize students with the type of historiographical perspective, the sciences that assist historians, the method of historical analysis, the relationship between history and other social sciences, and ultimately the shortcomings and unexplored points in the field of studies of the history of Islamic jurisprudence and its primary sources.
