Developed on the occasion of Avicenna's millennium, this work is first of all the edition and translation of three Avicennaian "stories" which deploy the mystical perspective in which the work of the great Iranian thinker is completed. Henry Corbin (1903-1978 ) carried out this edition by submitting it to the proof of the commentary. It highlights, for the first time, the anglology of Avicenna, where the doctrine of the Intelligences and the celestial souls is transmuted into mystical terms. This lucidation allows him to show how Avicenna proceeded to develop a doctrine of pilgrimage of the human being towards her personal Angel, a doctrine through which Avicenna enters into consonance with various gnostic traditions, which belong to the domain of Islam. These traditions, in turn, refer to the gnoses of the religions of the Book (Judasm, Christianity) or the Manichean gnosis. Henry Corbin's work thus expands to the point of dealing with the larger problem posed to the science of religions: what is the subject of visionary experience? This passes through the paths of the imaginary world - a dear Corbin theme , of which the present work offers a first thematization. The book is here told in its entirety, for the first time since its original publication in the “Iranian Library”.
