Maziar Behrooz is the son of Jahangir Behrooz, who was a member of the Tudeh party in the years before the coup d'etat of 28 August 1332 and worked with the editors of several party publications. The book contains a compact and documented report of the history of the Marxist left movement in Iran from 1320 to 1362 (when the last Marxist organizations collapsed). The author has tried to follow the scientific methodology to report the process of the left movement and its ups and downs in the text of the contemporary history of Iran and more importantly to investigate the causes of the failure of the left in Iran.
