Mouse Man is a smart and sharp lawyer. As a child, he suffered from obsessive-compulsive disorder and imagined that rats would enter the anus of his father and the woman he loved and eat it. He had the urge to kill others or cut his own throat with a razor. And so he was treated by Freud in 1907. Through a fascinating analysis of this case, Freud details the complex psychological motivations of OCD in the unconscious, laying the foundation for the psychoanalysis of OCD. The most valuable thing is that this book contains Freud's original case file, which gives us a unique opportunity to study his interaction with the patient.
It is stated in a part of the book:
"Before reviewing the events of the second session, I would like to add another point about the sexual experiences of the patient's childhood. It cannot be denied that these experiences are remarkable both in themselves and in their results. But this, like other cases of neurosis, obsessions, which I have had the opportunity to analyze. Such cases, unlike hysteria, always contain the characteristic of premature sexual activity. Obsessive neurosis more than hysteria makes it clear that the factors involved in the development of neurosis must be considered in the sexual life of the time. A sick child explored, not at present. The normal sex life of the obsessive often appears quite normal to a superficial observer, and often contains far fewer abnormal and pathogenic elements than the case under consideration. It leaves man's discretion."
