Mohammad Mehdi Shamsuddin (born on 15 Sha'ban 1354, Najaf - died on 21 January 1379, Beirut), was an Usuli jurist and a Shiite mujtahid, and the former head of the Supreme Assembly of Shiites in Lebanon. He was born in a Lebanese family of origin in Najaf. His family lineage goes back to the first martyr Muhammad bin Makki Ameli. He started studying religious sciences at the Najaf seminary at the age of 12.
